Catching up with Larry the Lobster

Have just re-met Larry the Lobster who is looking a little sunburned to me.  Last time I saw him, he was more of a brownish green and looking quite snappy. Now he just lays there bug-eyed.

Second Island Visit

Just an update on my second trip to Chebeague Island and all is good.  Bus ride was OK, boat ride was nice as long as I could get under the seat to hide.  Talked to my people about the ocean rushing out to the left of the picture and they said sorry it will be straight in future images.

First-ever Bus Ride

My first-ever bus ride on the way to the Island ferry.  Notice that I'm sitting by the Emergency Exit should something go wrong.

Once on Chebeague Island, everything was paws up with not a single other dog/person on the beach during my Memorial weekend runs.

A great place to get away from daily grind of squirrel chasing at home.

Big Deal A+

My people took me to a "dogie day care" where they believe I'll be able to get in some exercise and training.  So, they leave me there for a four hour college-style dog test session.  At first, I didn't pay much attention but learned that they have a dog swimming pool so upped my game.  Of course, I came out with an A+ without even brown nosing the professor, big deal.

Free Red

Guess my people have turned soft as they are giving the Red Tail's a safe haven, though it's behind bars.

Of course I'm not sure that "Red" the squirrel is feeling that way as I swear I kept hearing him say "Please People, Protest and Free Red". Anyway I'm told that he's been moved to a nearby island.

Some of My Friends in the Yard

Ok, so after the squirrel posting and a little negative feedback on my hunting, I'm thinking I would share some of the local animals that don't bother me and I don't bother them one bite--or I mean one bit.

While they are here eating on high, I lurk in the bushes leaving them alone, while keeping an eye on the ground for vermin.

Some of my friends like the Downy Woodpecker above.
                                            The American Goldfinch above.
And, of course, the Northern Cardinal.  Only a few of the some 20 or 30 visitors every day.

Squirrel Patrol

The hunt begins and there is one less squirrel in the neighborhood.
Services were held this weekend for the red tail.

Table Portrait

Soon to be famous artist and friend, Julia, painted a table top portrait of me.  Of course, I look a little younger since she did it from memory when she saw me a couple of years ago.  Try as I might, the table would't fit into my kennel so my people will get to enjoy it. Now if they would just hang some pictures of me on the wall.

Burt one of my dog neighbors from a house beyond the trees stops by a lot to say "Hey" barking from the hill behind our house to let my people know its time to open the door for me.
 Catch me if you can.
After a day of being chased it's nice to just hang around the new digs.

Moving in Day

My stuff arrived today so I spent the day just kickin it.  Sleeping here and there at my friend Theron's along with a little mug shot posing by the old shed.  Should be in my new house tomorrow.

Maple Syrup and Squirrel Hunting

Squirrel hunting in the snow, fun but they tend to stay on top of the snow while I sink in.  And a side note on a rumor that has been going around the dog park in Seattle before we left,….deer poop doesn't taste like cat poop.  Still checking on fox and moose droppings.
Maple syrup season in this part of the country.  People here put taps in the trees and get a liquid that ends up on pancakes.  A visit to a friend's house put this all in perspective:  40 gallons of sap makes one gallon of syrup.  For me, a tree a tree and just something to mark as my area.
My people were amused by the sign on these shirts.  I know not why.  They didn't buy any.

I made it, well we all made it to Maine my new home.  At first site it's looking a little cold but snow is melting fast.  I rode in the car for 3575 miles in a cage, can you believe it.

The new house with lots of room to wander.

Enjoying the stairs and front door.  Many adventures to come I'm sure.

New York State

New York, here we are!  So far, I don't see anything special but we are only at the edge of the state.  No snow…that counts for something…Plus, I got a break from Johnny Cash songs…that counts for something, too….
Just walking to Niagara Falls is interesting, then…you see the actual water falls and they are AMAZING!

Pretty powerful stuff, but was it worth waking me up from my nap?  I didn't think so.

Snow All Around

Chicago morning with snow on the ground.  My new rain sweater on for the morning walk.
My drivers navigated a nasty snow storm from Chicago through Indiana to Ohio at 30 miles per hour, making for a very long day (for them).  Truth is, clean snow tastes the same in every state.

We made it to the land of Lincoln, a fun place but a little chilly for my tastes.

Looking down the street in Chicago, beautiful row houses with not a lot of room for me to go --if you know what I mean.
…and this is just sad, sitting in front the first Playboy mansion which has been turned into six condos.  I remember the day when...

Finally a bed fit for a dog, a King Size here in Minneapolis.  The trip just keeps getting better.
Not to mention the very confortable sofa in my room.  I overheard that we leave for Chicago tomorrow and that there is going to be snow on the road.  That's why my people drive and I lounge in the back.  Let's be honest, life is good.

Somewhere in the middle of Amerca--specifically, Mitchell, South Dakota--is this wonderful place made of corn.  True, the "World's Only Corn Palace" is covered inside and out with murals made of corn cobs  Sadly, not a Springer Spaniel among the lot.  But, I now understand why the local high school is "home of the Mitchell Kernels".

After a long day's drive, it was a nice reward to see this stunning sunset as we settled into Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Yes, that is the top of my peoples' heads.  Since this blog is all about me, they remain in the background.  Funny trip so far today.  They started spelling things like "it's about time to F-E-E-D the D-O-G."  I figured out long ago that when they start spelling, they are trying to be mysterious.  Today, I pretended to be asleep, but one minute after they were done spelling, I gave them my "I'm hungry" noise.  I don't want them to know that I'm on to them;  they might start writing things down, and I don't read well.  Oh, and how many episodes of Serial on NPR can they listen too? It's so clear who did it….

Today we visited Mt. Rushmore.  I sat in the car as "dogs aren't allowed in the National Park".  What are they thinking? Dogs have made many of the presidents.  Here I am, looking pretty damn presidential myself.  Take that, Washington, Lincoln, Roosevelt and Jefferson!

Ok another night another queen size bed.  I've now got my people putting my own blanket on the bed.  Who wants to sleep on a yucky hotel quilt.

Big Sky country made us very thirsty.  A stop at Head Frame spirits in Butte resulted in several bottles of the delicious "Orphan Girl" creme bourbon.  Mixed with rootbeer it makes a fine drink for humans.

The classic cowboy outpost in Sheridan, Wyoming, served up tasty bar decor, but the pack was too tired to imbibe.  Here are a few shots she took in and just outside of Sheridan, Wyoming.
